Workshop Detail
When Money Met Health
Speakers: Taavi Tillmann (Co-foudner of Economic Govenance for Health)
Sunday PM | Spaces Left: 16 (Total: 19)
There are many collisions between global matters of money and global matters of health.
The workshop will explore these interactions by examining a) the international organizations that run global money matters b) how their polices impact on health.
You will be encouraged to explore your feelings about economic justice – we feel it’s our duty to help vulnerable individuals in our home countries and to protect them against exploitation. Should it be our duty to help vulnerable countries by protecting them from exploitation? We feel good when our leaders give out aid, a.k.a. “fish". How long until this no longer satisfies us, and we ask them to give out nets, so that the vulnerable countries can catch their own fish? If politicians care more for money than health, at what point is it appropriate for doctors and medical students to intervene?
